UCL Student Support and Wellbeing (SSW)
The SSW team of expert wellbeing, disability and mental health staff provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space,
in which you can discuss any issues that may be affecting your ability to study. All of their support services are free of charge and open to UCL students of all levels.
Students' Union Advice Service
The SU Advice Service is a team of experienced caseworkers ready to support you with any difficulties that might occur during your time at UCL, specialising in academic issues,
housing, employment, and money advice. Sessions are confidential and will not be reported to your department or any other university staff unless at your request.
Students can make an appointment or attend a drop-in session for free, confidential and independent advice and support.
Code of Conduct
The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to provide guidelines and expectations for members of the Balls! Juggling and Circus Society to ensure a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved. Failure to abide by this Code may result in your immediate removal from the spaces in which we enforce this code: in-person, online, and use of society equipment.
- Members should treat all members with respect, kindness, and courtesy regardless of their skill level, background, or abilities, and to encourage a spirit of collaboration and cooperation among members, fostering a supportive environment.
- Language or actions taken to be hurtful or discriminatory to any of the nine protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010, including age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, as well as discussions with pornographic or gory themes are prohibited within society spaces.
- Bullying, threatening, or harassment behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary measures.
- Members are expected to take responsibility for their own actions and behaviour during society activities and events.
- Members are expected to respect society property and return it in the same condition per the Equipment Loans Terms and Conditions.
- Members should prioritise safety at all times during society activities and events and take every personal precaution to prevent personal injury, including wearing the appropriate protective gear per the Core Risk Assessment and relevant Additional Risk Assessments.
- Members must adhere to the safety instructions and guidelines provided by society organisers and instructors. If a member is instructed to stop using a piece of equipment on the grounds of concern for safety, the member must stop at once.
- Members should be attentive to their surroundings and be aware of other people in their spaces to avoid causing accidental harm.
- Members are expected to clean up after themselves and help maintain a clean and organised society space.
- Members are expected to pay for any loss or damage to equipment resulting from misuse or negligence.
- Members should seek permission before using any equipment owned by another member.
- Members should report any unsafe conditions or damaged equipment promptly to the Committee.
- Terms and conditions apply to equipment loans beyond its use during regular sessions. Members who fail to observe these terms, including late returns, may be barred from taking out further equipment loans.
- Members must obtain permission before taking and posting photos or videos featuring other society members per the Data Protection Act 2018, with official society material being an exception to this rule, whether online or otherwise. Members who do not wish to appear in official society material should inform the Committee at their earliest convenience.
- Members should be aware that all society spaces, including online spaces, is intended for all members and should not be used for private conversations that are exclusionary to a select few.
- Members should be aware of the kind of language they employ on society online spaces as to not make other members feel uncomfortable.
- Failure to observe these rules may result in the immediate and permenant removal of the member from society online spaces.
- Members agree to abide by this Code as well as the Students' Union UCL Club and Society Regulations and any relevant Union byelaws.
- Members are expected to abide by any relevant regulations and report illegal activities to the appropriate authorities.
- The Committee reserves the final decision upon any ambiguity in the interpretation of this Code and the Equipment Loans Terms and Conditions.

Conflict Resolution
If you are in conflict with another member of the society, here's what you might want to do.
- Address conflicts or disagreements calmly and constructively, seeking mediation if necessary.
- Be aware of how your conflict might impact other members and general morale of the society.
